When Stability is Uncertain

When Stability is Uncertain

Horses were evacuated from the Global Champions Tour in Doha.

Nearly 150 international show jumping horses—already on site—had to be quickly organized, rerouted, and flown out under emergency conditions after Iranian missile strikes and escalating conflict led to airspace closures across the region.

That's not minor. That's the top of the sport just stopping, and then figuring it out.

At the same time, across the industry, people are watching fuel and diesel prices climb. Some are losing grooms. Others are quietly trying to rework schedules, costs, and plans without making a big deal about it. But it is a big deal.

Different situations. Similar pressure.

This industry has always been more connected than people want to admit. What happens globally doesn't stay there—it shows up. In your fuel bill. In whether your team shows up. In whether something that worked last year still works now.

We rely on movement, on people, and on some level of stability. And right now, that feels less certain.

This isn't really about business in the neat, structured way people like to talk about it. It's about responsibility. Horses still need to be cared for. People still need to be paid. And the business has to keep functioning, whether conditions cooperate or not.

That's where this gets real.

Because when stability isn't guaranteed, what you've built gets tested—not in theory, but in real time, in decisions you didn't plan on having to make.

And maybe this is where it comes back to something simple.

Most horse professionals are already carrying a lot. That hasn't changed. This just adds weight.

So right now, staying connected matters. Reach out to your peers, encourage each other, and help where it's needed. That's always been the good part of what holds this industry together.

And if you're feeling it, you're not the only one.

I'm opening up a members group coaching session on March 30th to talk through business resiliency—what people are seeing, what's shifting, and how to think through decisions in real time. If you need a place to sort through it, it's there.
