Equestrian Business Consulting Projects - Select Case Studies
Elisabeth McMillan, Lead Consultant and Founder of Equestrian Professional, has worked with clients across the equestrian industry, spanning different breeds, disciplines, business models and sectors of the horse industry. Clients have included horse professionals, equestrian associations, facility and event operators, developers, investors, entrepreneurs and organizations exploring opportunities in the equestrian market.
The case studies in this section offer a closer look at selected consulting projects, the questions and opportunities involved, and the thinking behind the work. Because much of Elisabeth's consulting work is confidential, only projects that can be appropriately shared will be featured. New case studies will be added as additional projects can be shared.
Tribal Nation Equestrian Project
A Native American Indian Tribe purchased several hundred acres with a substantial equine facility, including extensive stabling, pastures, paddocks, multiple barns and onsite housing. The facility had remained largely unused for several years. The Tribe engaged me to identify viable business opportunities and develop the business strategy, facility plans and financial models needed to evaluate and pursue them. Where do you begin with an assignment like this? This case study follows the initial work—from testing an existing business proposal to examining market needs and connecting the research to detailed financial, facility and manpower plans.
