The Connection Between Progress and Passion

The Connection Between Progress and Passion

Keeping up with the day-to-day responsibilities of caring for horses and clients, while trying to build your career and business, can keep you trapped in a juggling contest rather than making actual progress. Solving this conflict is critical because when progress is a struggle for too long, we can lose motivation and ultimately our passion.

This is a serious condition because passion is critical to success. Passion provides us with the motivation necessary to overcome and persevere. It is also the most important ingredient to generously spill over onto our clients and horses. When passion is high, the long hours and dollars spent feel worth every minute and every penny.

Passion is the true currency of successful horse professionals. Fortunately, most of us have passion “in spades.” That is, until we don't. Here are a few quick tips to help you progress towards your goals and keep your passion strong.

1. Unity fuels passion
One of the most important steps a horse professional can take are the ones that help them unify their equestrian goals with their business goals.  We have a proven process we take our members through to accomplish this that is very effective in creating growth. However, simply increasing your awareness can help you move your business and career towards unity.

2. Achievement fuels passion
Set written process goals and measure the progress and outcomes. Adjust your process goals as necessary. Celebrate the achievement of process goals (both your own and your clients).  When we do this, not only do we progress faster, we are allied with the progression. This allegiance forges an important bond between our goals and our passion.

3. Energy fuels passion
Prolonged misuse or abuse of your physical or mental energy negatively impacts your health, emotional well being, relationships, and ultimately your passion. Implement systems to help reduce unnecessary energy sucks. Learn how to use stress/recovery cycles during the day. Find out what replenishes your energy and what depletes it.

4. Connection fuels passion
Build and maintain relationships with people who inspire, support and believe in you. Build a deep and wide bench. We all need people we can connect with when we need insight. Those people bring with them the value of their experience or area of expertise and can listen without judgment when we simply need a caring ear. Plus, having supportive relationships outside your business will facilitate healthy relationships inside your business.

We hope you found these four mini-tips helpful. We will cover them individually in more depth in our upcoming Horse Business Tips and Member Resources.
